"Reaper" Finale -- Theories?

Alright, I don't have that many people who read this thing, yet, but I thought at least those who do who watch the show "Reaper" might have some interesting theories on what this week's show means.

If you haven't seen it yet, spoilers ahead.

Okay, before the episode started, Sam -- the reaper -- is theorized to be the son of the Devil. He doesn't know this yet, and the group of rebellious demons are now starting to suspect that he could be a liability rather than an asset.

In this episode, his father tells him that there is a big secret that he can't tell Sam, and the demons straight out tell him that the secret is that his father is the Devil. But at the end of the episode, after Sam almost gets buried alive by the rebellion and his father does get buried alive, we find out a portion of this secret -- his father has some sort of supernatural ability himself.

Now, I shouldn't be putting this much thought into a television show, but I've gotten addicted to it. So I will put my theory out of what is going on. I think that Sam's father is Sam's father, but he is a demon. He told Sam that he made a deal with the Devil to get better after an illness, but in reality I think the deal he actually made with the Devil had to do with the fact that he was a demon himself. I think that his father actually made a deal with the Devil to be able to leave Hell and marry a mortal, thus putting his own soul into danger. One of the things that points to the idea that this is what happened is when Sam is asked if he knew the story of how it all came about, and when Sam tells him what his parents told him, the Devil tells him that people who make deals with him "don't have the greatest integrity."

But as I write that, it still doesn't answer a particular question -- if it turns out his father is not the Devil, why is he so willing to grant Sam's requests when he asks him for something?

We'll find out in January.
