Jack Thompson Visited by US Marshals

GamePolitics is reporting that video game activist, soon to be disbarred lawyer and wanker Jack Thompson has been visited by U.S. Marshals at his home. The details still aren't completely clear, but it looks like it may be over a letter that Thompson sent to Chief Judge Federico Moreno in regards to his bar hearings, where he stated in the letter that al Quaeda prisoners have more rights than he does.

We find yesterday that enemy combatants at Guantanamo are to get more due process from federal judges than what I am to have. I guess my “mistake” was not killing 3000 people to make my point. Maybe I need to be placed at Guantanamo in order to get a hearing on something. I’ll let you know about efforts in that regard. I’m sure Judge Jordan can oblige.

Um...yeah.

He also brings up the current controversy regarding Judge Alex Kozinski, who was caught up in his own scandal last week when, presiding over an obscenity case, the Los Angeles Times decided to run a story overstating the content on his computer as porn.

This very week Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Kozinski has been found to have the same porn appetites as this Florida lawyer’s customers. It turns out that US Supreme Court Chief Justice Rehnquist knew of Kozinski’s activities in this regard and wanted something done. I am sure the Governors of The Florida Bar, notably Steve Chaykin, are glad the Chief Justice is dead for that reason alone.
At least Judge Kozinski sought to keep from the public his consumption of this filth,
whereas this lawyer is distributing it to anyone of any age. Judge Jordan welcomed this lawyer into my case as an intervenor in order that this porn distributor might harass me within the case as well as without. You can see the gay “boy” porn at this lawyer’s site that Judge Jordan protected by seeking to discipline me via the Ad Hoc Committee. There is an irony here that would not be lost even on Judge Kozinski.

Well, too bad Thompson isn't going to read the apology that the L.A. Times is going to have to eventually give Kozinski because, as it turns out, he may be the victim of a vindictive lawyer who has yet to be punished by the California Bar for his own actions in a divorce case. What Thompson did was submit legitimate gay porn as part of a filing in a case, which the judge told him not to do. Kozinski's crime? Having some dirty jokes stashed on his computer.

As you are probably guessing, Thompson was not happy about the little visit.

I have been asking the Justice Department simply to meet with me about [the video game industry's] criminal targeting of me for harm... Our US Attorney here has obstructed that effort... Instead of being afforded the Justice Department investigation to which I am entitled, I get today harassment from that same Justice Department...

When you and the Justice Department dispatch U.S. Marshals to my home because of a letter I wrote you last week complaining about misconduct by District Court Judges here in the Southern District, the purpose of that visit was to intimidate and harass me...

The notion that I pose some sort of physical threat to you or to the judiciary or to anyone else down here is a cruel joke. The two Marshals said, “If you had actually hand-delivered the letter to Judge Moreno, we would be concerned.” To that I said, “But I did. I did that last week because the gentlemen at the metal detectors would not deliver it, and THEY TOLD ME TO DELIVER IT TO YOU. I buzzed into your inner offices on the thirteenth floor, and I politely handed the letter to your clerk, who politely took it.

If I were a danger to anyone, that would have been the time for me to have proven it, right? In fact, I have never threatened anyone in my entire life, and you know that, and the Marshals said they knew that. They were apologetic about being dispatched to my home. This is outrageous, Judge. Simply outrageous.

It makes me wonder what he's going to do when he is finally a private citizen.
